Examination of the abdomen

Though we are Neurologists, we can’t forgo a proper routine physical examination in all of our patients, even more so in stroke patients. We recap the basic steps of the abdominal examination – inspection, percussion (including upper liver border), auscultation (including lower liver border with scratch auscultation), palpation (including liver). Without going into the details of specific abdominal disease, we perform an example examination in our favorite endocarditis patient.
